Homework #2-learning experience

Literacy learning experience

When I was in primary school and middle school, I learned courses in Chinese language, but when I came to take my high school classes which belong to school’s international department, students will need to learn most of their courses in English. This made me very worried and frustrated at the beginning of the high school, because I’ve never had a class that is taught in English, even the English class before is taught mainly in Chinese with several different English words and sentences in the textbooks. Hence it was very stressful for me to take courses like history which requires a lot of reading and writing. I still remember that when the world history teacher asked us to read 10 pages in only one day, students in our class just shouted and complained it as impossible. In the history reading homework, I encountered a lot of new words and it is very hard for me to remember English names. We classmates at last decided to work together to look for the new words from the e-dictionary. After several hours, we finally finish our reading by reading it in group. It really made us frustrated at first, because it definitely just only need to take less than an hour for us to read the textbook if it is in Chinese, but in English, the time has tripled with the additional group help. However, it is also this reading homework that makes us feel confident that we can actually handle the English reading and writing stuff. So this is generally my first experience to read such a long length of English reading compared to the past several sentences. I was first worried about and afraid of the illiteracy about the English homework, but later after the group-study, I set my confidence on English.
